We’ve loved seeing Glee’s Rachel (Lea Michele) and Santana (Naya Rivera) work together on one job so far in Season 5, as the two are both servers at the Spotlight diner. And they’re both dressed as sexy elves in the upcoming Season 5, Episode 8 Christmas special. But could they be teaming up on a third project?

We’ve gotten a glimpse at the rumored song list for next spring’s Season 3, Episode 9: “Frenemies.” Perhaps the most intriguing song on the list is Santana performing “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from Funny Girl. Plus, we’ve heard that a character will soon be “auditioning (very badly) for a Broadway show.” Could this be Santana... or someone she’s auditioning with? Hmmm.

Frankly, it’s hard to imagine any reason for Santana to sing that song on her own other than to audition for the show. That’s why we’re thinking Santana might end up as Rachel’s understudy for the role of Fanny. And if you ask us, this is an amazing plot twist. It would be awesome to see Rachel and Santana both supporting each other and cracking jokes together in rehearsal.

We’re also loving the idea of a little friendly competition between Rachel and Santana. Santana is at her absolutely sassy best when she thinks she’s better than someone else at something, so we can only imagine the myriad hilarious lines she’ll have as she tries to play some friendly mind games with her bestie. In fact, maybe that’s what the episode’s title “Frenemies” refers to?

But do you think Santana will end up in Funny Girl with Rachel and do you even want her to? Or is there another reason why Santana will be singing the tune? Let’s just hope that Santana joining the production doesn’t rain on Rachel’s parade.
