We love watching all the romantic ups and downs that the Glee characters endure, but it can at times be frustrating. Sometimes, a relationship will go on for too long — like Rachel (Lea Michele) and Brody’s (Dean Geyer), for example — while at other times, our favorite romances are far too short-lived.
One of those doomed romances might soon be getting rekindled, as Artie (Kevin McHale) and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) are set to sing two duets during the upcoming (February 25!) Season 5, Episode 9: “Frenemies.” So we decided to look at the other romances that we’d most like to be revisited. Here are our picks for the six romantic fires that burned out too soon.
6. Quinn and Puck
Can you blame us for wondering if these two should give things one more chance? As we pointed out yesterday, we’re more than due for a glimpse at how their daughter Beth is growing up. Plus, Quinn (Dianna Agron) and Puck (Mark Salling) seem to bring out good sides of each other. Then again, maybe we just want to see more of Quinn on the show, period.
5. Quinn and Santana
Okay, so they were never a bona fide couple. But Quinn and Santana (Naya Rivera) were so cute together last season that we’d love to see them continue to explore the possibilities of a relationship. However, we’ve already seen them slap each other, so maybe it’s good that they have yet to have a proper break-up, since it could get ugly.
4. Jesse and Rachel
Obviously, our favorite guy for Rachel over the years has been Finn (Cory Monteith), and she isn’t ready to start dating yet following Finn’s death. Still, Jesse (Jonathan Groff) and Rachel’s relationship was quite special as well — especially for those amazing duets of theirs — so we wouldn’t mind seeing them back together someday. Let’s just hope he stays far away from the raw eggs this time.
3. Quinn and Sam
Remember the brief but awesome romance that was Fabrevans? Sure, Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Quinn have each had many short-lived romances that we wouldn’t mind reliving — although Quinn’s relationship with her married Yale professor is not one of them — but these two were great together. If you need to be reminded of their chemistry, check out their stellar duet of “Lucky.”
2. Sam and Mercedes
Ah, Samcedes. Glee kept teasing us with this one, and yet for some reason it never fully materialized. In hindsight, we wish Amber Riley (Mercedes) could have just dumped Shane (remember him?) sooner to give Sam a chance before graduating. At least we’ll always have their magical first kiss from Season 3, Episode 11: “Michael” to remember them by.
1. Brittany and Santana
Was there any question as to who would be number one on this list? For a lot of Gleeks, Brittana was the main reason to tune in to the show. In fact, we still don’t fully understand why they had to split at all. Sure, Santana and Dani (Demi Lovato) are cute, but we’re holding out hope that Brittany (Heather Morris) will return from MIT soon and win Santana back. Please convince her to do this, Lord Tubbington.
