Former Glee favorite Grant Gustin (Sebastian) just got a new love interest! The actor, 24, will soon star as the titular superhero in The CW’s Flash pilot, and Deadline reports that actress Candice Patton has been cast as the show’s female lead.

Candice was most recently seen on The Game, where she played Malik’s assistant, Tori, during Season 6. On The Flash, she’ll star as Iris West, the daughter of Detective West (Jesse L. Martin). Iris is introduced as the “quick-witted best friend” of Grant’s Barry Allen, but the two will later become love interests.

As soon as the news was announced, Grant took to Twitter to share his congrats. “SO excited to welcome the very talented Candice! Candice Patton Cast In CW Pilot ‘The Flash,’” he wrote on February 2.

Candice tweeted back, “@grantgust @Deadline thank you Grant for the welcome! We are going to have a blast!

In the DC Comics universe, Iris is a news reporter and the girlfriend of Barry Allen, and the two eventually get married. It’s unclear how closely the show will follow the comic books, but we do know that Iris and Barry will be romantically involved.

Barry was initially linked to Felicity Smoak on CW’s Arrow. But plenty of Arrow fans agree that Felicity should end up with Oliver Queen. So when it comes to Barry’s love life, it looks like Felicity is out and Candice’s Iris is in. What do you think of the new CW super-couple?
