The future is Looking pretty bright for HBO’s new gay comedy drama. TVLine reports that the network has officially picked up the show for Season 2.

Looking, which stars Glee vet Jonathan Groff (Jesse St. James), received series high ratings for the episode that aired Sunday, February 23. The comedy received 519,000 viewers, an over 50 percent increase from its series premiere in January. The series, which follows the lives of three gay men looking for love in San Francisco, was has been called the gay Girls. But unlike the Lena Dunham-fronted HBO hit, Lookinghas not seen quite as much instant success.

So far six of the eight ordered episodes have aired. Over its relatively short season, Looking has received okay, but not great, ratings. In comparison, its lead in, Girls received almost twice the amount of viewers on Sunday: a total of 916,000.

While Girls still wins in the ratings, Looking is seeing lots of improvement when compared only to itself. Its last-minute ratings bump last Sunday seems to have sealed the deal. Looking is officially coming back for another year!

Are you surprised to see Looking renewed for a second season? Or have you been expecting this all along? Head below and sound off.
