If you've been hoping that all the rumors of cast-member departures on Glee would eventually be debunked and that no one would be leaving... well, we hope you're sitting down. One of the show's most beloved stars has confirmed that she is indeed leaving the show. In other words, we don't blame you if the sun suddenly doesn't feel as bright right now.
Rumors have been flying recently that Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) would be leaving Glee after she graduates from McKinley soon, with Lea Michele (Rachel) suggesting as much in an interview recently. Now, Jenna has confirmed on Twitter that she is no longer filming the show.
On March 8, Kevin McHale (Artie) posted a pic to Instagram of himself on the Glee set with several crew members. "Spendin' Saturday with some of the BEST in the biz #Glaturday," he captions the pic.
Jenna replied to this by tweeting:
Talk about a bummer, right? We learned earlier on Season 5 that Tina had been waitlisted at Brown, which — besides a vet school — was her only college option. So it's safe to say that she makes it off the waitlist.
This is exciting news for the character, but it's not so exciting for us, since Tina is an original New Directions member and has been such a key part of the show. We had really hoped that her cute friendship triangle with Blaine (Darren Criss) and Sam would continue in NYC. Instead, it looks like Tina was right to shed those tears on last week's episode about them all parting ways.
Will you miss Tina? Or do you think the time is right for her to move on?
