This is a bittersweet time for anyone involved in the movie McCanick, which is one of two films that Glee star Cory Monteith (Finn) shot shortly before he passed away in July 2013 from a drug overdose. While the film was finally released in theaters this weekend, Cory sadly isn't able to see his hard work come to fruition. However, one of Cory's co-stars says Cory liked what he saw of the film.

David Morse, who plays the title role in the gritty crime thriller, tells Examiner that Cory was happy with how the movie turned out. "He got to see most of it, but not the final cut," David says. "He saw it before all of the editing. He seemed pleased with the film when he saw it. We all were."

David adds that Cory  who plays an addict in the film  was very "open" about his struggles with addiction. "Cory and I talked about it a bit, and we talked about him being sober at that time," David says. He points out that "there was nothing to indicate [Cory] was in any trouble at all."

McCanick is currently playing in NYC and is also available on iTunes and VOD. We're thrilled that the film's reviews have been so favorable about Cory's performance, and we just wish Cory could be here to enjoy the film's success with the rest of us.
