We all know that Glee is shifting to NYC, as the McKinley glee club will be no more after this week's second part of the 100th episode special. While we still have yet to hear conclusively whether any of the not-yet-graduating McKinley students will remain on the show in the future, it appears we're getting a big hint.
Many of our favorite characters will be heading to NYC in the next few episodes, including Blaine (Darren Criss), Artie (Kevin McHale), and Sam (Chord Overstreet). Plus, a few other characters — like Mercedes (Amber Riley) — will also spend a few episodes in NYC.
But the future for the younger characters — like Marley (Melissa Benoist), Jake (Jacob Artist), Ryder (Blake Jenner), Unique (Alex Newell), and Kitty (Becca Tobin) — doesn't look quite as promising. TV Guide reports that none of the cast members who play this so-called "Second Generation of New Directions" will still be receiving regular cast credits on future Glee episodes.
So this is sad news, as it's always tough to say goodbye to characters whom we've grown to love. However, it appears that viewers never quite connected with the new characters as they did with the older characters, so perhaps this parting of ways might ultimately be for the best.
Will you miss the departing New Directions members?
