We’ve almost made it through five seasons of Glee, and with Season 6 officially set as the last hurrah for our musically-inclined gang, we have so many questions about the show’s finale. Series co-creator Ryan Murphy recently spoke to TVLine and dished out some massive info about the final season — the final scene, to be exact.

At this point it’s no shocker that Ryan wanted the final scene to feature Rachel (Lea Michele) returning to Lima, finding Finn (Cory Monteith) teaching a lesson to his glee club, and declaring that she was “home.” (Dry your eyes and continue reading.) But with Cory’s unexpected death last summer, the Powers That Be have had to rework the ending. So what will happen in the final moments?

“Yes, we do have a final idea that we’re working on that I think is very powerful and moving,” Ryan tells the site. “It’s about Rachel and Mr. Schue, and it returns them to their origins, their roots, how they felt about each other when they were much younger and everything was idyllic. I think the ending has to be a reflection and a celebration of how far all those characters have come.”

Hmm, interesting. We’ll admit that we hadn’t pegged this as a possibility, but, upon further thinking, it does seem to bookend the series pretty well. The show began with Rachel and Mr. Schue finding each other and starting the New Directions, building it up from nothing, so it only seems fair that these two are present when the final curtain drops.

Is this ending as satisfying as the Rachel/Finn ending that Ryan and Co. had originally cooked up? Absolutely not. But is it true to what the show is all about? Definitely. We can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

What do you think about this ending? Does it satisfy you or do you wish there was a different scene? Hit the comments and let us know!

Glee airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
