There are always some pretty wacky Glee casting rumors going around, and some of the latest chatter suggests that British boy band One Direction could be slated to appear on the FOX dramedy. But before you squeal with endless delight, we should probably tell you that the gorgeous boys of 1D have no plans to appear on Glee, at least as far as show stars Darren Criss (Blaine) and Jane Lynch (Sue) know.

Darren and Jane took part in the second Glee live-tweeting event during Season 5, Episode 17: “Opening Night” along with Kevin McHale (Artie) and series co-creator Ryan Murphy, and once the chat ended they hopped on Google Hangouts to answer even more questions from fans.

When asked about the One Direction rumors, Ryan himself can be heard in the background telling Darren and Jane “it’s a vicious lie.” Still, that doesn’t mean the cast wouldn’t be game for a 1D takeover. “I dig Harry Styles and I’m a lesbo,” Jane declares. “This is the MILF thing I love so much. I’m in love with him. So much so that I button my collar,” Jane continued noting how she mimics Harry’s fashion choice.

“So that’s a vicious lie, no One Direction,” Darren clarified. “Although we have done a song [of theirs].” Indeed, One Direction covers have popped up on Glee in the past. Back in Season 3 many of the McKinley boys sang “What Makes You Beautiful” at prom, and in Season 4 The Warblers performed “Live While You're Young” at Sectionals.

So Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn, and Niall won’t be on the show in the future, but Darren did let it slip that another one of the band’s hit tunes will be featured in next Tuesday’s Episode 18: “The Back-Up Plan.”

“I’m actually doing with Chris Colfer (Kurt) a One Direction song, there’s a little spoiler for you,” he dished. “It’ll be on next week I think, or the week after that, so yes, One Direction will be technically on the show...it’s a big song.”

Like we said, based on our intel we’re expecting the 1D tune — which is rumored to be “Story of My Life” — in the April 29th ep, but you’ll just have to tune in and see if we’re right!

Are you bummed that Ryan, Darren, and Jane finally put these One Direction guest star rumors to rest, or are you still holding out hope? Vote below!

Glee Season 5 airs Tuesday nights on FOX at 8 p.m. ET.
