The location of the sixth and final season of Glee is still a mystery to us, but at FOX’s Girls’ Night Out event in California on June 9, star Jane Lynch (Sue) gave up a big piece of info about where at least part of the season is expected to take place. According to the FOX TV Twitter account, Sue Sylvester’s portrayer revealed Season 6 will be a homecoming of sorts. “We're all going to be coming back together in Ohio at McKinley,” she dished.

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy has previously said a return to McKinley was possible — in a “very nostalgic way” — but he explained Season 6 would have a location all its own. In our expert opinion, we expect the majority (or at least the start) of Season 6 to follow Rachel (Lea Michele) and take place in this mystery location as she shoots her pilot. All signs are pointing to said mystery location being Los Angeles, but nothing has been confirmed.

Then, after she’s wrapped in said mysterious locale, Rachel will return — possibly with the help of a time jump — to Ohio, McKinley, and all her old pals. In the original Glee series finale that was mapped out before Cory Monteith’s (Finn) death, Rachel was to come back to Ohio after her Broadway success and say to Finn, “I’m home,” so it’s likely Ryan has remixed this initial ending a bit if McKinley is indeed the end point.

Speaking of Cory, Jane also noted the late actor was “such a big part of why this show is such a hit.” We doubt she was speaking just about ratings, but it is interesting to note the show’s viewership has plummeted since Cory’s death. Hopefully the final season, which is expected to have an abbreviated run, will fare better than Season 5.

Are you surprised that at least part of Season 6 will take place at McKinley? Tell us your thoughts below!

Glee Season 6 is expected to debut in 2015.
