During her Brunette Ambition tour several weeks ago Lea Michele (Rachel) spilled that Glee’s sixth and final season was set to start shooting sometime in July, but now we’re hearing production likely won’t start later this month as initially planned.

Matthew Smith, an assistant editor on Glee, took to his Twitter page on June 30 to look for some work. “Whats up twitter industry folks. I'm available for work between July 15th and September 1st. Maybe hire me for something?” he began.

One of his followers tweeted back saying if he’d known Matthew was looking for a gig earlier he would have had something in mind for him, and Matthew’s response has us a bit worried. “Damn! That’s too bad... I just found out today. Thought I was starting way sooner. TV schedules…” he wrote back, later adding, “Not sure what is gonna happen. I’m not sure we’re doing a full season again this year. Could be off in the winter.”

Based on what we’ve heard so far Glee won’t have a full 22-episode season (we’re expecting more like 12 to 13 episodes) but this news that production won’t start up again this month as originally planned is still a bummer. We were really looking forward to getting some spoilers and photos from the set, but if filming isn’t set to begin until as late as September (as Matthew’s first tweet implied) we’ll have to wait even longer for any info about the final season, not to mention that almost guarantees a later premiere date.

On the bright side, however, Matthew seems to have found an editing gig for the duration of the summer!
