We’ve loved watching Mike O'Malley as Burt Hummel on Glee but with the show ending next year after an abbreviated sixth and final season it’s time to start thinking about what he’ll do once the show ends for good. Luckily, Mike already has his next project in the works — a sitcom starring the legendary Bill Cosby!

NBC announced the good news earlier this year, and at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour last month the network confirmed that Mike and Rules of Engagement alum Mike Sikowitz are writing and producing the comedy, which is being described as a "classic, big, extended family sitcom.”

Per The Hollywood Reporter, this yet-untitled comedy would star Bill as “the family patriarch and father to three married daughters with children.” Sound familiar, Cosby Show fans? As we mentioned, Mike is co-writing and co-producing Mr. Cosby’s return to the TV sitcom (more than 20 years after The Cosby Show ended on NBC) but THR also notes that NBC hopes Mike will co-star in the project — after all, he scored an Emmy nom for his work on Glee.

Though we’re super excited about this project, we should note that NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt has made it clear that, at least at this point, the project is just a script commitment. In other words, the network is interested in a script from the Mikes, but nothing has been shot yet. However, Bob did say that if everything goes well, TV viewers can expect to see this sitcom on the air either next summer or fall 2015.

With that timeline, hopefully Mike can make one last return to Glee before the FOX dramedy ends next spring. We live for those Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Burt heart-to-hearts!
