Becca Tobin (Kitty) has had an incredibly difficult summer following the unexpected death of her 35-year-old boyfriend, Matt Bendik, in Philadelphia on July 10, so it was really great to see her smiling and happy in the August 6 episode of ABC Family’s Mystery Girls.

Filmed before Matt’s death, Becca appeared in Season 1, Episode 7 of Mystery Girls, called “Passing the Torch”. She played one of the two younger actresses hired to play a newer version of the Mystery Girls in a reboot of the show within a show. Her Mystery Girls character, like Glee’s Kitty, wasn’t very nice — being dismissive and snotty to Holly (Tori Spelling) and Charlie (Jennie Garth) — but given Becca’s experience playing a Cheerio on Glee she pulled it off seamlessly.

Becca’s character stayed disdainful throughout the episode, but it’s clear that the 28-year-old had a great time on set when she shot the episode back in June. In honor of Becca’s episode airing last night, the official Mystery GirlsTwitter account shared a photo of the actress on set, “Here's a look at our favorite new #MysteryGirls @becbecbobec!,” the wrote alongside a picture of smiling Becca holding up a Mystery Girls sign.

This TV appearance comes at the end of a big week for Becca. Just a few days ago she broke her silence following Matt’s death, calling him “the most extraordinary man I knew,” and last weekend she made her first public appearance since Matt’s passing, supporting Glee co-stars Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) at The Hollywood Bowl revival of Hair.
