With the “permanent” shift to New York in Glee Season 5, one of Lima, Ohio’s premiere glee clubs, New Directions, was disbanded by Principal Sue (Jane Lynch), who cited lack of funds and a loss at Nationals as her reason for putting an end to the beloved group. But with focus shifting back to Lima and McKinley high for the show’s final season — with five new high school characters to boot — will the New Directions live to see another day? It certainly sounds like it!

According to TVLine one of ND’s stars Rachel (Lea Michele) — is expected to head back to her hometown to revive the cherished club. Rachel apparently returns to Ohio and relaunches New Directions after her pilot in Los Angeles doesn’t go as planned.

While we don’t yet know if we’ll actually get to see Rach try and make it in LA, TVLine notes that “We will, however, find out what became of the TV pilot she was developing with Bob’s Burgers‘ Kristen Schaal andCommunity‘s Jim Rash. We might even catch a glimpse of the final product.”

Was the pilot so bad that it was never picked up as a series? Did Rachel realize she hates green juice and quinoa so she comes screaming back to Lima demanding a hot meal from Breadsticks?

We’ll have to wait and see exactly how our girl finds her way home, but we’re confident that with her TV money (however limited that may be) and Funny Girl checks she has what it takes to reboot the New Directions. Maybe she’ll even offer up her expertise and take on Mr. Schuester’s (Matthew Morrison) role. She was a Broadway baby after all!

And how’s this for an added bonus? We told you just yesterday, August 12, that Sam (Chord Overstreet) is slated to be in every episode of Season 6, so it looks like we can expect to see several Samchel scenes.

Are you happy Rachel is going back to Lima to reboot the New Directions, or should she be off doing bigger and better things? Sound off below!
