We know real-life couple Blake Jenner (Ryder) and Melissa Benoist (Marley) best for their roles on Glee, but for the past several months the engaged pair have been hard at work on a passion project, a feature film called Billy Boy. Blake wrote the film and collaborated on it with Melissa, and the two of them are set to star as Billy and his love interest Jennifer, respectively. Late last year they started a Kickstarter campaign in effort to raise the $100,000 necessary to make the film, and by December they had raised more than needed. Earlier this month production on the flick officially wrapped.

On his Kickstarter page, Blake describes Billy Boy as follows:

Like so many teens today, 18-year old Billy Forsetti's potential has been crushed by the cards that life has dealt him. Coming from a broken home, his life consists of going to school, barely, and hanging out with his three best friends. For the past several years, the four buddies have been up to no good and now, their old ways have crossed over to the point of no return. After a night of partying, Billy meets a young waitress, Jennifer, who begins to lead him on a path to redemption. She shows Billy that there is hope and he begins to get in touch with his potential. Unfortunately, Billy is in too deep and after a series of unfortunate events, Billy finds himself struggling to take back control of his life.

As we stated above, Blake and Melissa have been hard at work on Billy Boy for months, sharing several sweet snapshots along the way. Earlier this month, the film’s costume designer Brigitta Romanov (who also happens to work on Glee) posted a photo of the adorable on and off-screen duo. “This is the picture you all have been waiting for! A #BTS look at #BillyBoy with @Blake_Jenner & @itsmmbenoist,” she tweeted with the sweet snap above.

By last weekend the film had wrapped and Andrea Medina (another of Billy’s costumers who also works on Glee) tweeted a goodbye and thank you to Blake. “That's a wrap on #BillyBoy!!!!!! Cheers to this amazing man & our fantastic cast & crew!!!! @Blake_Jenner I love you!” she wrote alongside a photo of her and the Glee actor.

We love Blake and Melissa on Glee and even though we don’t know what (if anything) is in store for them in the show’s sixth and final season, we applaud them for taking the initiative to get Billy Boy made on their own and can’t wait to see it!
