It may be another five months or so before we get to see any of Glee’s sixth and final season, but the cast has now officially started work on the show’s final thirteen episodes. Naya Rivera (Santana) was pre-recording some tracks late last week, Darren Criss (Blaine) looked thrilled to be in the recording studio on Monday, August 25, and now Rachel is back in the building as well!
Lea Michele took to Twitter yesterday, August 26, to announce her return to the Glee set after several months away. “So excited! First day back at #Glee today for #Season6! #BerryIsBack,” she began, complete with a fitting gold star emoji.
So what did Lea’s first day back on set entail? Lots of singing of course! “First up.. recording session with @alxanders... So excited to be singing one of my all time FAVORITE songs! #GleeSeason6,” she shared, later adding a photo of Alex smiling at her from inside the studio. This gal’s got a wide array of musical tastes — we know she’s been really into Lorde lately but also has a sweet spot for greats like Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand — so we have no idea what song she belted out but apparently she did an amazing job. As always.
Sharing a photo of a smiling Lea in the recording studio, Alex tweeted, “Hey there @msleamichele Back at it again! So good to see and hear you again today. Stellar as usual! #GleeSeason6.”
We’re glad things are slowly but surely coming together for Glee Season 6, but it looks like we’ll have to wait another few days for those adorable on-set shots from the cast. On August 26 Michael Hitchcock, one of Glee’s writers, tweeted, “So great to see the Glee crew bustling about the sound stages, getting ready for next week,” which seems to indicate that the actual filming won’t kick off until September.

Glee Season 6 is expected to debut in 2015.
