When Glee Project winner Blake Jenner makes his big debut on Glee Season 4, Episode 5, he’ll still have that familiar smile. And those big brown eyes. And his same friendly, goofy personality. But one thing he won’t have? Those signature swooshy bangs.

That’s right. Glee has spoken, and Blake’s floppy long hair has to go.

On August 31, show creator Ryan Murphy tweeted, “I cut @Blake_Jenner's hair today. He loved his new look. His role will inspire many many people.”

Wait. His hair is gone? How much of it is left? Since we know that Blake’s Glee character will have a connection with army-bound Finn, we instantly expected the worst. Would Ryder be sporting an army-style buzz cut?

Ryan wouldn’t give any details. Instead, he left that up to Blake. “Beg Blake to tweet you all a picture of his snappy new 'do,” the showrunner tweeted. “Tell him I told you to do it. Make sure he smiles.”

Luckily, Blake seems to check Twitter pretty often, because he tweeted a photo of his new look not even a half an hour later.

My hair was EXTREMELY long this morning and it was cut today! I like it a lot!” he wrote. As Blake’s photo shows, the new ‘do is shorter than the swooshy style we’ve come to know and love, but still not anywhere near the length of a buzz cut.

What do you think of Blake and Ryder’s brand new look?
