Watch enough episodes of MTV’s Catfish, and you’ll start to believe that nobody on the internet is who they say they are. That sweet, sensitive girl you can’t stop talking to online? She’s probably secretly a man. Or transgender. Or, at the very least, a bit more overweight than the supermodel-like photos she stole for her profile pics.

Catfish is all the rage in pop culture right now, so when Glee’s Ryder (Blake Jenner) started to develop a deep connection with an online lover named Katie in Season 4, Episode 16: “Feud,” plenty of people speculated that Glee might be telling its own Catfish tale.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Blake’s former Glee Project co-star Lily Mae Harrington at a rehearsal for “The Concert Project” last week, and we asked her opinion on Ryder’s developing online love story.

“I totally think he will be catfished,” she told us. “I'm obsessed with Catfish oh, that's a great idea.”

But while the search for many catfishes takes the show across the country, Lily’s not convinced that Ryder’s mystery lover will be located so far away. “I think he's totally being catfished by someone he knows. It's sketchy! His character is so vulnerable and is almost looking, because he doesn't have Marley.”

Given that theory, does she have any ideas who Ryder’s catfish might be? “I would love to see Alex Newell's character. That would be amazing,” Lily says. “They already built it up by [Ryder] not calling [Unique] a "he." She/he, Alex, could totally pull that.”

At the beginning of Episode 16, Ryder refused to refer to Unique as “she.”  Unique might identify as female, but because she is biologically male, Ryder insisted on referring to her a boy. By the end of the episode, the football jock had changed his stance — showing a newfound understanding of Unique that Lily feels might eventually lead to romance.

That said, Lily does have another theory as to who Ryder might end up with. “I also want to see Blake with the girl with the neck brace. That's what I want in a selfish way.”

What do you think: Would Glee take a risk and hook up Ryder and Unique — or do you have other theories as to who Ryder’s catfish might be? Head below and sound off.
