Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts, along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed the performances from Season 4, Episode 2: “Britney 2.0,” down to the very best and the coulda-done-without. Do you agree with our picks?
Best Performance of the Night: “Oops!... I Did It Again” by Rachel
It’s safe to say that choosing this week’s top song was a lot tougher than choosing between Justin Timberlake and Kevin Federline. In fact, “Crazy”/“U Drive Me Crazy” was thisclose to snagging the victory with that superb bleachers mash-up. (Go, Jarley!) And plenty of other songs were contenders as well, including “Everytime” and “Womanizer.” What can we say? We love us some Brit-Brit.
But in the end, Rachel (Lea Michele) and Brody (Dean Geyer) claimed the victory with that unique vocal take on a Britney classic, not to mention a dance performance that still has a sweating. Let’s just say that those tables have definitely lost their innocence.
Worst Performance of the Night: “Gimme More” by Brittany
Another tough call. “Boys”/“Boyfriend” was frothy but fun (love those dance moves, guys!), and
“Hold It Against Me” was elevated by that fab choreography. But it was hard to compare “Gimme More” to the more challenging performances — much like, say, “Tik Tok” from “Blame It On the Alcohol.” Plus, the idea of making fun of Brit’s performance at the 2007 VMAs feels a tad dated. Still, Brittany (Heather Morris) snacking on Cheetos will crack us up every time.
