September 18 — UPDATE: Sad news. While it seems like Glee at first had every intention of having Heather Morris's Brittany come back for at least a limited role in Season 5, it now appears that this might not be happening at all. On September 17, a Glee fan tweeted to ask the show's behind-the-scenes content creator Kalen G for updates on whether or not Heather would return. Kalen's reply? "Nothing is ever definite with glee but i don't believe she's coming back this season." On November 11, TV Line confirmed it. Britt won't be back this year.
Unfortunately for Brittany fans, it sounds like Heather is more focused on preparing for motherhood right now than returning to the show. The actress is due to give birth to her baby sometime this month.
UPDATE: TV Line's Michael Ausiello reports that "all indications: point towards Heather returning in some capacity, though this would probably not happen until the second half of Season 5, which begins in Spring of 2014.
But that said, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Heather Morris currently does not have a deal to return next season. It's still early, and a deal could still be worked out. But she doesn't have a deal as of yet.
Heather Morris' (Brittany) surprise pregnancy has been an emotional rollercoaster for Glee fans. On the one hand "CLAP CLAP CLAP, we're so excited!" On the other hand, the likelihood of girlfriend staying on Glee with a brand new infant is getting slimmer and slimmer by the second.
Not only is Brittany a senior at McKinley High — the seniors will graduate during Glee's fifth season and she’ll likely head to MIT — her on-screen boyfriend, Chord Overstreet (Sam), says home girl's story line will be concluded. Um, what does that mean, Chord? Explain yourself.
"Brittany's story line will conclude [in the Season 4 finale] and you'll figure out where she's going," Chord tells The Hollywood Reporter while we cry soft tears of sorrow. "She comes in and out of MIT and goes back and forth and you'll see where she's headed and what's going to happen with her. It'll be an emotional episode but it will be fun."
Ok, let's break this thing down. Reading between the cryptic lines, it looks like Brittany will shuttle back and forth between MIT and Ohio for a few episodes (presumably to visit Sam) before eventually departing Glee for good. So, what about Sam and Brittany's relationship? "It's going to be whatever is best for Brittany," Chord says.
On top of that, her on-screen ex Naya Rivera (Santana) recently tweeted, “Shedding a few tears here on our last day. Such an emotional scene."
What's worse, the fact that Brittany and Santana might never be together again, or the fact that we're currently drowning our sorrows in a XXL pizza?
