Chris Colfer (Kurt) is now two-for-two when it comes to Emmy nominations, but the Glee star found this morning’s good news to be a bit bittersweet. After all, not only is Season 3 poised to be his final Glee term, but co-stars Lea Michele (Rachel) and Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schue) were left out in the cold.

“We all work extremely hard on our show, and I know how much Matt and Lea put into it every day, so I am disappointed to see that they didn’t get nominations,” he told TVLine

Another fact that makes this morning’s Emmy announcements bittersweet is that it comes right on the heels of another big announcement: that he and a couple other Glee stars will not be coming back for a fourth season. “It’s definitely not my choice,” reveals Chris. “But I completely understand that it works for the integrity of the show. One of the things that I love about Glee is, despite characters breaking into song in the middle of the hallway, it was very real to me. It always seemed like a very real high school environment. And I think by having some characters graduate, they’ll continue having that element.”

Chris didn’t rule out a spin-off series, but as of now, nothing is signed.
