It’s official: Chris Colfer’s (Kurt) film Struck By Lightning is headed to theaters, and you’ll likely be able to watch it sometime later this year.

Struck By Lightning, an independent movie Chris both wrote and starred in, debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, and now Deadline is reporting that the U.S. rights for the movie have been acquired by Tribeca Film.

The studio plans to release the film in theatres in January 2013, though it will be available on-demand and likely also through platforms like iTunes, Amazon Watch Instantly, VUDU, Xbox and Samsung Media Hub as early as December 19.

“I’m so thrilled to be partnering with a company as passionate about this film as we are,” Chris says.

Other familiar faces in the movie include Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks, Bridesmaids’ Rebel Wilson, Allison Janney, and Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland.

Congrats to everyone on the pickup! We’ve been dying to see this film ever since the first photos emerged during filming last summer, so we’re thrilled to finally get the chance to watch it on the big screen in just a few months.

No, seriously. Are tickets available yet? We want to pre-order them ASAP.
