Update: As Cory's news spread on April 1, countless fans reached out to Lea on Twitter. That afternoon, the Glee starlet tweeted, "Thank you all so much for all your love, support, and encouragement. It's means the world to us.."
On Sunday night, Glee fans learned that Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson) has checked himself into rehab for substance abuse, and his girlfriend and costar Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) has been nothing but loving and supportive.
Of this difficult time in boyfriend Cory's life, the 27-year-old Glee actress tells People exclusively, "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this." Lea and Cory have been public with their love since April 2012, and have been on the hit FOX show together since it debuted back in 2009.
"I am grateful and proud he made this decision," Lea continues. Earlier, the pair took to Twitter to express their sense of gratitude and positivity. On March 28, 2013, Cory tweeted, "such a beautiful day! truly seeing the forest for the trees. #gratitude." Just days later on March 31, Lea tweeted, "Feeling so grateful today <3."
Lea was most recently snapped wearing a "Cory" necklace, and the pair were spotted out and about at a Los Angeles Kings hockey game a little over a week ago, on March 23. Our thoughts are with Lea and Cory in this trying time.
