The news shocked Glee fans everywhere Sunday night. Cory Monteith (Finn), real-life boyfriend of co-star Lea Michele (Rachel) and arguably the show's male lead, has checked into rehab for substance abuse.

Glee has not finished filming Season 4, so we've got to wonder — what does this mean for the remainder of Cory's time on the show?

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that production for the remaining two episodes of Glee will continue as usual. This means no Cory in Episode 21 or 22.

This also finally puts to rest those old rumors that Finn will be the love interest of American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez's Glee character. She won't start guest starring until Episode 21, and Cory probably won't be on set at all, unless he’s enrolled in an outpatient treatment program.

That said, there's no reason Cory couldn't come back for Glee Season 5, provided Fox does decide to renew the series. Filming for Season 5 wouldn’t start until around August, and Finn could always be absent for a few episodes, if needed.

After all, college can keep a guy pretty busy. And McKinley grads who aren't at NYADA usually don't get much screen time anyway.

All in all, the coming summer break means that there will be time for Cory to focus on his recovery. Because after all, his health — and not a couple of missed Glee episodes — is the most important concern of all.
