Were you shocked to hear that Glee star Cory Monteith (Finn) had checked into rehab for substance abuse issues? We sure were

And, as it turns out, so was most of the Glee cast. E! Online reports that many of Cory’s co-stars were totally blindsided by the news. Like most of the Glee fandom, they just didn’t see it coming.

"Most of the cast didn't know there was any problem and many of them are surprised," a show source tells E!. "Everyone seems to support his decision to get help and to not delay it.

Countless members of the Glee cast, along with directors, writers, and executive producers, have spoken out on Twitter to voice their support for his decision. Kevin McHale (Artie) and Amber Riley(Mercedes) both said how proud they were of his decision. Chris Colfer (Kurt) called him a hero.

Also supporting Cory is girlfriend Lea Michele (Rachel), who vows to “stand by him through this,” and says she is so “grateful and proud” of his decision.

Though he will be missing Glee’s Season 4 finale, Cory will not be written off the show. "Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment," 20th Century Fox TV told The Hollywood Reporter. "Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return."
