When a promo with the first official footage of Glee Season 4 hit FOX’s YouTube channel on August 15, it confirmed something that we’ve been suspecting for a while now.
Wade (aka Unique), the former Vocal Adrenaline leader played by Season 1 Glee Project runner-up Alex Newell, is transferring to McKinley High School.
During this year’s Comic-Con, producer Ian Brennan said, “We're now developing that character a little more, and people seem to have responded very well to him, and I think that character will go for awhile. I think — I hope!”
Alex himself seemed very excited about the new trailer, tweeting, “I hope you saw the amazing Season 4 trailer!!! It's looking really good everyone!!”
However, just a few hours later, Alex wrote, “I wish people could see me for me rather than the "Reality TV Alex" ugh it's soo annoying!!” It sounds like some of the Twitter fans weren’t too excited to hear that Alex’s character would be coming back.
Damian McGinty (Rory), however, was not one of them! “@ANew92 don't worry about it man,” Damian tweeted to his former Glee Project co-star. “Everybody has an opinion...your a star, a great guy, and its your time to shine. You've earned were you are.[sic]”
Those are kind words, especially since Damian is the winner of Alex’s season of The Glee Project, yet his character, Rory, won’t be returning to Glee this year, except for an appearance in the Thanksgiving episode.
As of the next day, Alex’s spirits appear to be restored. He tweeted, “Hey y'all it's official Wade Unique Adams will be spreading fierceness and love to you all!!! yay!!!!”
