Blaine (Darren Criss) has made up his mind to propose to his ex-boyfriend, Kurt (Chris Colfer), in Glee’s Season 4 finale — despite the fact that Kurt’s dad thinks the entire thing is a terrible idea.
But with all the recent developments in marriage equality, Darren Criss tells The Hollywood Reporter that Blaine is just so excited about the idea that he can get married, he’s not exactly considering the long-term consequences.
“We're obviously miles, if not light years ahead of where we were as little as five years ago and Blaine gets wrapped up in that. He really wants to be a part of it, though I think he's a bit young,” Darren says.
So will Kurt say yes to his ex’s proposal? Darren wouldn’t say, but he did point out that a marriage proposal isn’t really the sort of thing Kurt would see coming. “I don't think Kurt knows. I don't think Kurt knows so we'll see. I've yet to know that. I don't know. We'll see. We'll see how he reacts.”
Wait. If the episode has already been filmed, how is it possible that Darren doesn’t know how Kurt will respond?
As it turns out, Darren says he and Chris filmed a couple of endings, and he’s not sure what actually made it into the finished episode. That said, he recognizes that the wait for Kurt’s answer certainly could be one of the “many cliffhangers” that Glee creator Ryan Murphy promised fans were coming.
“I don't know if it will be a cliffhanger. I don't know how they're going to cut it. We shot a variety of different things and I don't know what they're going to use.”
