If you’ve been keeping up with Glee creator Ryan Murphy’s other network show, NBC’s The New Normal, you know that the freshman comedy hasn’t been shy about making references to the world of Glee.
Main character Bryan (Andrew Rannells) runs a Glee-style TV show called Sing, and so far, we’ve met doppelgangers for almost all of the main characters, including a perky Lea Michele lookalike named... wait for it... Clea.
Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with TNN’s Georgia King (Goldie) at the New Normal PaleyFest event on March 6, and the Scottish born actress told us she’s actually talked with Glee’s Darren Criss (Blaine) about the cheeky spoof.
So what do Darren and his co-stars think about Sing? Georgia shares the inside scoop, plus teases plenty of drama coming for her character — including a new career and a new love interest!
Wetpaint Entertainment: Have you heard any reactions from the cast of Glee about Sing?
Georgia King: Yes! I’m friends with some of them, I’m friends with Darren Criss and he was like ha ha ha-really? No I think that they find it funny, I do.
Can you sing and dance?
Of course I can. I can do everything you ask me! Actually my mom is an opera singer so I could do some opera.
Would you ever make an appearance on Glee?
[In an opera voice] Oooof Cooooourse!
Do you think the Sing stuff is funny?
I do, I love to mock stuff, I am a British person. I’m going to tell you something, to mock something is to ‘take the piss’ and I’m always like “Are you takin’ the piss?” and people are like, “I just don’t know what you are saying.”
What can fans expect from the last four episodes?
Lots. From my character there’s a lot to do with my husband, there’s a lot to do with a new love interest, there’s a lot to do with my new career, trying to control my crazy daughter, the boys have a whole other huge amount going on. It’s a lot; it’s a lot as always.
