Darren Criss’s (Blaine) college pals, Team StarKid, are at it again! After taking YouTube by storm with the release of their wizard spoofs A Very Potter Musical in 2009 and A Very Potter Sequel in 2010, StarKid will release a brand-new parody musical in April 2012.

It’s title? Holy Musical B@tman!

When we spoke exclusively with StarKid Brant Cox in January, he told us that the group had a new musical in the works. Now the first details are being released! StarKid’s official show description reads, “After witnessing the murder of his parents, a young billionaire makes a solemn vow to dress up like a bat and wage a one man war on crime!”

But what’s a crime-fighting superhero without a loyal sidekick? The description continues, “But when this solitary savior realizes that "one" is the loneliest number to wage a war with, he'll set off on a musical adventure to rescue the city from the greatest super-villain of all time and find a super friend. So join us in celebrating/poking-fun-at everyone's second favorite superhero (right after Spider-man)!”

Second-favorite superhero? [Insert Joey Richter face here: “SECOND?!”]

Anyway... where were we? Right. A limited number of free performances of Holy Musical B@tman! will run in Chicago this March — with a lottery for tickets here: http://tinyurl.com/7zjmomc — and the show is scheduled to hit YouTube in April 2012.

The show is the 5th full-length musical production for StarKid. Inbetween AVPM and AVPS, they released the coming-of-age comedy Me and My Dick, and followed the most recent show, Starship, in January 2011.

Glee’s Darren Criss, who wrote or co-wrote the music for most of StarKid’s other shows, is not involved this time around. (We’re guessing his full-time job on Glee, filming movies, and acting on Broadway may have had something to do with it...)

Still, Holy Musical B@man!’s cast list is filled with faces from other shows, including Lauren Lopez (the hilarious Draco Malfoy in AVPM) and Joseph Walker (AVPM’s Voldemort).

The cast list includes:

Brian Holden — Lupin in AVPS
Chris Allen — Duder in Little White Lie
Denise Donovan — February in Starship
Dylan Saunders — Dumbledore in AVPM
Jaime Lyn Beatty — Ginny in AVPM
Jeff Blim — New to StarKid
Jim Povolo — Rumbleroar in AVPS
Joseph Walker — Voldemort in AVPM
Julia Albain — Specks in Starship
Lauren Lopez — Draco in AVPM
Meredith Stepien — Megagirl in Starship
Nicholas Strauss — The Old Snatch in MAMD
Nick Lang — Mama Umbridge in AVPS
Nico Ager — New to StarKid

StarKid Joey Richter, who lives in Los Angeles and will not be in the show, tweeted, “SOOOO EXCITED TO SEE @TeamStarkid's #HolyMusicalB@tman!!!!! Trust me, it's gonna be B@D@$$!!!!!!!”

Casting announcements have not yet been made, but we’re already dreaming up ideas. B@man, Robin, Catwoman... there are just so many cool roles. We can’t wait to see who will don all that famous latex and tights!
