Though many Glee stars headed straight for Hollywood after high school in order to pursue their acting dreams, Darren Criss (Blaine) actually spent four years at college earning his acting degree.

The Glee star has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Michigan. He graduated in 2009, booked a recurring role on ABC’s now-cancelled Eastwick that same year, and landed his breakout role on Glee in September 2010. Not bad at all!

While in college, Darren formed a group called StarKid Productions with a handful of his classmates, and the friends have since written and performed five full-length musicals.

Their first, A Very Potter Musical, is a 2 1/2 hour-long spoof of Harry Potter. Darren didn’t just play the starring role of Harry Potter — and its 2010 follow-up, A Very Potter Sequel — he also wrote most of the songs for both shows.

And yes, we do think that his hair looked better back then. Blaine might only go without gel when he’s miserably depressed, but we kind of wish Darren could bring back those floppy curls permanently. We sort of think they’re totally awesome.
