Listen up, Patrick Swayze fans. You’re still getting that Dirty Dancing reboot announced last year — you’re just going to have to wait a bit longer than originally expected for it to get here.

Deadline reports that Lionsgate is postponing its remake of the 1987 classic dance film, which famously starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, and the studio cites casting reasons for the cause of the delay. The film was originally slated to hit theaters in July 2013, but has now been pushed back until 2014, at least.

According to the site, both former Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough and Miley Cyrus’s country singer ex-boyfriend Justin Gaston screen tested for the Patrick Swayze role, though neither of them has been cast.

Glee’s own Lea Michele (Rachel) screen tested for the Jennifer Grey part, but no casting announcement has been made for that role, either.

So what does that mean for her chances of getting to star in the film? Honestly, there’s just not enough information yet to tell. The studio is obviously interested, but they may have decided that Lea just isn’t the best fit for the leading female role. Or, there’s a smaller possibility that they may still be considering her for the role, but are postponing the film to better work around her busy Glee schedule. But if that is the case, wouldn’t her name be attached to the project?

At this point, it’s looking like Lea probably won’t star in the film. But what would you have thought if she did? We love the idea of Lea getting cast in big movie roles, but how do you feel about about the part of Baby as a fit? As a Broadway veteran, Lea’s extremely talented as both actor, singer, and dancer — though dancing probably isn’t her forte of the three. Would you want to see her in the lead?
