When Tina Cohen-Chang sings PSY’s viral hit “Gangnam Style” in Glee Season 4, Episode 8: “Thanksgiving,” she sings all the Korean words in the song with ease. It raises the question: Does actress Jenna Ushkowitz speak Korean?

“We’re doing it in Korean, which means I have to learn Korean,” Jenna says in a Glee behind the scenes video. “I don’t know Korean. Do I look Korean?”

Joking aside, there’s a pretty simple explanation for why rapping in Korean didn’t come too easily for the Glee star. Jenna was born in Seoul, South Korea, in April 1986, but she was adopted at the age of three months and grew up in New York.

So, no head start for Jenna when she had to learn all those tricky “Gangnam Style” lyrics. That makes her Sectionals performance all the more impressive, don’t you think?
