Glee is going “back to basics” in Season 3, and star Lea Michele (Rachel) explained just what that means to Wetpaint Entertainment.
“There’s nothing specific that I can say to explain it, but then when you read the script, you go ‘Oh, that’s Season 1 Glee,’” she told us at the Television Critics Association’s Fox party recently. “In Season 1, we did a lot of classic rock songs — or not even so much classic rock, but songs you haven’t seen in the top 10 in awhile. I definitely think they’re going to do more of that this year — taking songs that used to be incredibly popular and reinventing them.”
The storylines will also refocus on “the core group of kids,” she said. “This is their senior year, some of them. People definitely want to see where they’re going to go.”
Speaking of graduating characters, Lea told us she was oblivious to the whole “actors finding out on Twitter that they're graduating” controversy that took place a few weeks ago.
“I was actually away for a lot of it. I was in Hawaii,” she laughed. “You know, sometimes a lot of things happen in the press. But I know the truth, and Ryan Murphy is a dear friend of mine. I’ve known him for years, I’ve known him since pre-Glee. So for me, I know the truth, I know all the information.”
Though, one bit of information Lea DOESN’T know is which artists Glee will be covering this season. “Ryan has been so tightlipped this year,” she said, shaking her head, before revealing, “I know for me personally, he’s told me I’m going to be doing a lot of Broadway. I’m super excited about that!”
