Over the few episodes of Glee, it’s become increasingly obvious that Marley (Melissa Benoist) is suffering from a pretty serious eating disorder, and that she is need of some help before it gets worse.
Yet, after Marley’s shocking collapse on stage during Regionals in Season 4, Episode 8: “Thanksgiving,” everyone seemed too upset about losing the competition to bother thinking about what caused poor Marley’s collapse in the first place.
Throughout Season 4, Episode 9: “Swan Song,” there was barely any mention of the reasons for Marley’s fall. Everyone got mad at her for making them lose Sectionals, but Santana (Naya Rivera) was the only one who seemed to have even an inkling that there might be a greater issue at stake here, or that Kitty (Becca Tobin) might possibly bear some of the blame.
During a Twitter Q&A with fans on December 12, Glee creator Ryan Murphy revealed that the New Ds won’t stay fixated on their loss — and oblivious to Kitty’s deteriorating health — for long. A fan tweeted Ryan to ask, “will someone eventually address and help Marley with the whole eating disorder situation? And go after Kitty while they're at it”?
The Glee creator replied simply, “Yep. Watch tomorrow.”
There you have it. It’s looking like Kitty might finally be held responsible for some of her actions during tonight’s Season 4, Episode 10: “Glee, Actually” — and we’d say it’s about time that happened. Here’s to hoping for a full and healthy recovery for Marley!
