When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Glee Project winner Damian McGinty (Rory) at Thursday night’s New Now Next awards show, the cute Glee star certainly seemed to have prom on the brain. He and the cast have been filming Season 3, Episode 19: “Prom-A-Saurs,” all week, and Damian gave a few fun teases about what to expect.

Plus, as fans wait for the start of The Glee Project Season 2 later this summer, does the charming Irishman have any advice for the next batch of Glee hopefuls? Take a look.

Oxygen just announced the brand new cast for The Glee Project Season 2. Do you have any tips for the new contestants?

It’s actually filming as we speak. Last year we had a lot of cast members from Glee but this year it’s A-List, like there’s been a lot of big people that have been on the show. Like Lea [Michele (Rachel)]'s on the premier so it’s real exciting.

What I will say to them is you know if you had to watch, last season was interesting because the end showed that the people who were themselves the entire way through ended up benefiting the most from the show and you know you have to go into Glee Project believing in yourself, being able to take criticism but build yourself back up again, be a performer and be willing to learn and be yourself and believe. There’s three things: learn, be yourself and believe.

Do you have any early favorite or one that you hope will win?
I mean I haven’t met them yet but they all seem really, really cool. They seem like really nice kids, I’m excited to meet them I really am excited because it’s going to be weird meeting them and being like, you know I was in their position last year, it’s crazy.

You’ve walked in their shoes.
Yeah I’m like I know exactly what you’re going through, you know? But there are 14 of them this year so they’re going to prolong the pain for another like two weeks for the poor kids. We only had 10 weeks; they may have 11 or 12. So it’s crazy but yeah I’m excited to meet them.

What lies ahead for Rory on Glee, and what’s next for your fellow Glee Project winner Samuel Larsen (Joe)?
Well what’s next for Rory is we are coming into the home stretch I think, it starts back April 10th and there is 8 episodes in a row remaining. It’s building up a lot towards the whole graduating thing and where is the show going for next year. Honestly for me at the moment, for a lot of us on set myself, Chord Overstreet (Sam), Samuel Larsen, you know all the guest stars, Grant Gustin (Sebastian), we’re a bit in limbo because we really…there’s ideas being thrown about as to what the show is going to be next year but there’s nothing concrete I don’t think.

Are the cast members nervous?
Yeah, people are nervous because we don’t know what’s going on so we know as much as everybody else sometimes to be honest. So it’s a little bit in limbo but we’re working hard, we’re filming Nationals in two weeks time and there’s a lot of great story lines coming up. We just did a number, we were filming prom this week and we did a really, really cool number that I’m very excited for!

What song is it?
[He hesitates] There were 5 guys, we did a One Direction song the five of us! So it was like a Glee boy band, it was awesome!

You and your roommate, Cameron Mitchell, have both tweeted that you just moved out of your old place. What is the new house like?
Oh my God it’s so cool! It’s amazing; it’s such a cool place. We have it on lease until next April I think. So yeah we were in an apartment but you know an apartment is pretty small and in a house you have your own space. There’s like three floors, we bought a TV, we play FIFA. It’s awesome, it’s so much fun.

So it’s safe to say you two enjoy being roommates?
Oh yeah, oh yeah we’re like the perfect roommates, we just, you know, whatever happens. We wake up in the morning and we think FIFA! We go to bed at night and we think FIFA! But yeah we behave pretty well so yeah it’s a lot of fun.

What is like being a roommate with Cameron?
It’s awesome, we do a lot of jamming, we did a bit of writing.  It’s so much fun, we just get on great. Everybody has seen us on TV and it’s just continued. We’re so lazy; we’re both really lazy so it works well!
