Glee Project fans — how surreal was it to actually see Season 2 winner Blake Jenner on your TV screen during tonight’s Season 4, Episode 5: “The Role You Were Born to Play”? And when his name flashed up on the screen during the opening credit? Yes: Blake is now one of the stars of Glee. This is real life.

Tonight’s episode was the first new Glee since the devastating events of Season 4, Episode 4: "The Break-Up" back in early October, and the effects of all those broken relationships made their mark throughout the evening.

That said, there were plenty of new and exciting things to focus on this week, too. McKinley High School is diving headfirst into their production of Grease, and it came down to Marley (Melissa Benoist) vs. Kitty (Becca Tobin) for the role of Sanday, and Jake (Jacob Artist) vs. Blake Jenner’s Ryder for the role of Danny.

Both Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) made their long-awaited return to McKinley to lend a hand for the musical. Anyone else start to tear up during that hallway reunion scene?

Basically, we can’t get enough of Glee’s first new episode back after the break — and we’re already counting down the days until we get to see McKinley’s full performance of Grease next week. It’s just a week away. That’s less than 170 left to go!
