Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts... along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed the performances from Season 3, Episode 10: “Yes/No” down to the very best and the coulda-done-without. After all, not every Glee cover can hit #1 on iTunes!
Best Performance of the Night: “Without You” by Rachel
Talk about powerful! Rachel (Lea Michele)’s stunning vocal performance manages to even surpass Usher’s original version, especially on those high notes. (We still love you, Usher.) In fact, this song was so memorable — especially with that adorable look on Finn (Cory Monteith)’s face — that we almost wish we’d been able to include it on our recent list of the all-time best Finchel moments. Granted, this song didn’t feature Artie (Kevin McHale) in a floating pool chair, but nothing’s perfect.
Worst Performance of the Night: “Wedding Bell Blues” by Emma
This song barely edges out Artie’s high-energy but somewhat out-of-place Jagger-themed mash-up for this “worst” slot. We love that Emma (Jayma Mays) gets her time in the spotlight — especially with Sue (Jane Lynch) and Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones) hilariously backing her up — but this lightweight trifle just can’t compete vocally with the week’s other songs. But all that really matters is that this song helped Emma and Schue (Matthew Morrison) on their road to the altar, right? (And bonus points for Em’s adorable shower cap!)
And, on the flip side of that:
