Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts... along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed the performances from Season 3, Episode 18: “Choke,” down to the very best and the coulda-done-without. Do you agree with our picks?

Best Performance of the Night: “Shake It Out” by Santana, Tina, and Mercedes

Rachel (Lea Michele) clearly didn’t choke during her applause-worthy performance of “Cry,” but we’re giving the top spot to this powerfully stripped-down version of “Shake It Out.” Those harmonies are still giving us chills, Mercedes (Amber Riley) kills on her runs, and we loved getting to hear Tina do her thing. (A note to Glee: Give us more Tina [Jenna Ushkowitz] already!) This song was intercut with some tough-to-watch Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones) snippets, but there was nothing painful about the music.

Worst Performance of the Night: “The Rain in Spain” by Puck and Finn

The nicest thing we can say about this silly little ditty is that it was at least something different. We also loved the group’s head-banging circle at the end there (not that the guys have much hair to toss around, but it’s the thought that counts). All in all, the song was fun — albeit a tad cringe-worthy — to watch, but it’s certainly hard to say that this “vocal performance” (if we can even call it that) belongs in the same league as the week’s other numbers. By George, this song doesn’t got it.
