Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts... along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed the performances from Season 3, Episode 4: “Pot O’ Gold” down to the very best and the coulda-done-without. After all, not every Glee cover can be a bestseller on iTunes!

Best Performance of the Night: “Take Care of Yourself” by Rory

Sure, The Troubletones’ “Candyman” was a high-energy blast with runs galore (and was a very close runner-up), but this week belonged to our boy Damian McGinty (Rory), who made his memorable debut with two touching numbers. For us, the episode’s closing song, “Take Care of Yourself,” was the standout, which got kicked up a notch with that impressive falsetto — not to mention a healthy dose of the trademark McGinty grin. The other members of New Directions seemed to get a little nervous during this song about Rory potentially swiping the spotlight, and we can’t say we blame ‘em!

Worst Performance of the Night: “Waiting for a Girl Like You” by Puck

It wasn’t bad, per se, but we were the least impressed this week by Puck (Mark Salling)’s bland take on this treacly ‘80s hair-band ballad. We’ll admit that “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” didn’t give us Blaine’s best vocals, since it seemed to be in a weird range for him, but it was still the jolt of adrenaline we needed mid-episode. (Translation: If you think a performance featuring Rachel spanking Blaine — or anyone spanking him, for that matter — is gonna end up in this slot, then you must be looney.)
