If there’s one thing we know for sure about Finn’s (Cory Monteith) future on Glee next season it’s that the show isn’t giving anything away.
In perhaps the biggest cliffhanger of the Season 3 finale, the high school football star-turned acting school reject Finn infamously dumped his fiance, Rachel — and then ran off to join the army.
So what’s next? Creator Ryan Murphy has already stated that Finn’s storyline in Season 4 is a "big secret," and there’s no way he’s sharing any of the details. But since Cory Monteith has long been confirmed as returning next year, we know that Finn must be heading back to Glee in some form or another.
So, are we destined for a season full of musical numbers at boot camp, or will Finn be ditching the army in favor of another path? Cory can’t say exactly, but he did tell GoldDerby in a June 19 interview that his character will “return” from the army at some point — although it may just be for a temporary break.
“You will see Finn next year. He will return from the army,” Cory tells GoldDerby. “I can’t tell you in what capacity, but you will see him in Season 4.”
Based on that, it appears that Finn really has joined the army. But will he decide to stick with it? That remains to be seen. Either way, Finn isn’t disappearing from Glee anytime soon — and it sounds like he’ll be making his way back to Lima (no matter how temporarily), too.
