Marley (Melissa Benoist) sure does seem to have it all for a high school newbie. Despite the fact that she is so new to McKinley she probably hasn’t memorized her locker combination yet, Marley beat out everyone else to land the coveted role of Sandy in the school’s production of Grease.

Originally portrayed by Olivia Netwon-John in the 1978 classic film, Sandy is a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed girl visiting from Australia when she falls in love with greaser Danny Zuko. Sandy eventually ditches her poodle skirts for skin-tight leather pants, trading in her good girl image for a ride in Danny’s fast car.

In many ways, Marley is a perfect fit for the role: She’s just as naive and hopeful as the fictional Sandy, and she’s just as likely to fall for a bad boy (cough Jake [Jacob Artist] cough). But, does she have enough star power to play Sandy? Only time (specifically, seven days) will tell.
