After next week’s Season 4, Episode 4: “The Break-Up,” Glee embarks on a month-long hiatus. That’s right: Season 4, Episode 5 isn’t airing until Thursday, November 8.
Yes, November. Take a moment to let that all sink in.
But on a happier note, as soon as Glee does return, New Directions is diving headfirst into their production of this year’s school musical — Grease! We know we aren’t the only ones who thought that one little performance of “Summer Nights” last year wasn’t enough. This time around, we’re getting an entire show!
And while rumors are already circulating on Twitter that McKinley newbie Ryder (Blake Jenner) might be facing off against Jake (Jacob Artist) for the lead role of Danny, Glee creator Ryan Murphy just tweeted a photo that appears to announce — on no uncertain terms — which lucky lady snagged the role of Sandy.
On September 27, Ryan tweeted this photo of Marley (Melissa Benoist) dressed in Sandy’s skintight black outfit. If that wasn’t enough, his tweet seemed to make it pretty obvious, with the caption, “Sandy!!!”
So did Marley really snag the lead in McKinley’s school play? Glee is currently filming Season 4, Episode 6: “Grease,” so the auditions of Episode 5 are officially over. The roles have been cast — it’s showtime.
In fact, the only explanation we can think of of why Marley would be in costume and not be playing Sandy, is if she’s playing the understudy instead. But that one small caveat aside, we’d say the lead in McKinley’s school play looks pretty well locked up for her. Congrats, lady!
We can’t wait to see Marley get the chance to embody Sandy’s confident, sexy side. It’s time for her to break out of that shell a bit, don’t you think?
