Bad news, Finchel fans! It looks like Finchel won't be back together anytime soon on Glee, as Finn (Cory Monteith) will be getting a new love interest in the not-too-distant future. (Don't get mad at us — we're just the messenger!)
Glee producer Brad Falchuk tells TV Line that Finn will indeed bounce back with someone new, although it won't happen right away. "The idea is yes, it’s interesting to have him find someone,” Brad says. “I don’t know if it has to happen so soon — certainly not in the first nine or 10 episodes — and we don’t know who it’s going to be yet."
We kind of assumed that this Finchel break up would last for a while, considering Rachel (Lea Michele) seemed pretty fed up with Finn at the end of Season 4, Episode 4: "The Break-Up." But just the idea of picturing Finn with someone new is making the Finchel break-up feel even more real for us. We're not sure we can handle it!
So who do you think will be Finn's next flame? All Brad would say about who the lucky girl might be is, "We’re kicking around a few ideas." Does this mean Finn will end up with an existing character or a brand spankin' new character? We know that Quinn (Dianna Agron) will be back later this year, so maybe those two could rekindle things yet again? On Glee, we all know that no relationship is ever completely kaput!
However, it sounds like Cory Monteith isn't yet ready to throw in the towel on Finchel. When asked if he thinks Finn and Rachel will remain broken up for good, Cory said, "I don’t. It’s hard when you get attached to someone."
Okay, so at least Cory is leaving us with some (slightly) good news. Sure, Cory doesn't say how soon he thinks Finn and Rachel might reconcile, but just the fact that he's holding out hope is a very good sign. We think.
