First Britney Spears. Then Grease. And now two more! Glee loves doing tribute episodes, and now that creator Ryan Murphy has already finished his first two tributes of Season 4 — he’s already hard at work planning the next ones.
Ryan recently told The Hollywood Reporter, “We’re working on two tribute episodes. I’m not ready to announce yet, because it’s not cleared, but fun stuff.”
Though nothing is official quite yet, there are a few clues that tease what the two tribute episodes potentially might be. Back in August, Ryan tweeted, “A big GLEE goal this year: a Madonna/Elton John mashup. #gayhatchetburying” Might either Madge or Elton be one of his targets for a full-episode tribute?
Ryan has also expressed his desire to do a tribute episode based on the movie, Moulin Rouge. Though, Glee does end up doing a Moulin tribute — might the majority of it take place in NYC? McKinley’s already doing Grease as their school musical. We think it’s time for the NYADA kids to show us what they’ve got.
In other upcoming episode news, Ryan also offered a few teasers about Glee’s Christmas episode. Instead of doing a black-and-white TV special like last season, Glee will be drawing inspiration from a much more recent big-screen hit: the movie, Love Actually.
“We’re right now writing a fun Christmas episode, which is really cool,” Ryan tells THR. “We’ve never done this, but it’s very emotional. We’ve sort of taken characters that you wouldn’t expect should be together, and put them together. It’s sort of a Love, Actually vibe.”
Which unlikely duo are you hoping gets unexpectedly paired up? Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Brody (Dean Geyer)? Blaine (Darren Criss) and Brittany (Heather Morris)? The possibilities are endless!
