If you were hoping that the Finchel break-up would just be a temporary thing on Glee, you may want to sit down, as we have some bad news for you: It won’t be. Not in the least bit.
Finn (Cory Monteith) and Rachel (Lea Michele) have had their share of ups and downs (to put it mildly), so it would have been fair to assume that perhaps their most recent hiccup in Season 4, Episode 4: “The Break-Up” would get smoothed over when they realize how much they miss each other and all that. Well, this won’t be the case, says Lea Michele.
Lea tells E! Online that “Finn and Rachel will not be speaking or seeing each other at all when Glee returns from hiatus.” And in case you were wondering, that sound you just heard was our heart shattering into a trillion itsy-bitsy pieces. Thanks a lot, Lea.
As E! Online continues, “Even though [Rachel] flew home to Ohio to confront him, that's where their interaction ends.” Wait — so Rachel had to fly back to NYC immediately after that unpleasant break-up? Yikes. We doubt that even an endless supply of those tiny bags of pretzels could have soothed her pain.
In fact, this news seems to confirm what producer Brad Falchuk has said about Finn getting a new love interest — but not until at least Episodes 9 or 10. Yes, you heard us correctly: Glee will still be Finchel-free by the time Episode 10 rolls around, which presumably won’t be until early 2013. Ugh. Talk about the winter of our discontent!
