As upset as we were to hear that Kurt (Chris Colfer) didn’t get into NYADA during Glee’s Season 3 finale in the Spring, we do realize that one good thing did come out of the whole mess. Namely: No New York City meant no long-distance relationship for Kurt and Blaine (Darren Criss). As a result, all of our recurring nightmares of a Klaine breakup seemed like they were all for naught.

But in Glee’s Season 4 premiere, it became clear that Kurt was just not happy in Ohio, and — with Blaine supporting him 100% — Kurt decided to pick up and more to NYC, after all. In the grand scheme of things, we have no doubt that this is the best choice for Kurt’s future. The problem is, it means Kurt and Blaine have to do things long distance, after all.

So does geographic separation mean these two are headed for a breakup? Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the couple’s future doesn’t exactly look promising.

Glee Season 4, Episode 4 is titled, “The Break-Up,” and producer Brad Falchuk already said that all four of the show’s core couples will see their relationships tested, and on top of that, at least one of them — and possibly more — will break things off by the episode’s end.

Lucky for Klaine fans, Brad later revealed that Finn (Cory Monteith) and Rachel (Lea Michele) are going to split, so it’s entirely possible that Finchel might be the only casualties of the night.

However, on-set photos of fights between both Klaine and Finchel appear to show both couples breaking up. Kurt even runs away from Blaine crying. Yet lots of tears and a breakup song don’t totally guarantee that Kurt and Blaine have split — only that they come very close to it.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy told fans to “take a deep breath” and actually watch the episode first before they freak out. Actor Chris Colfer says he thinks everything is going to be okay, and that he and Darren will still have scenes together.

However, Darren Criss painted a slightly different picture. “Everything is turning upside down. So, whatever that means to you,” he told TV Line. “It might happen to Klaine. [wink] It might happen to some other people you know. Come on, what do you want me to say? It’s out there on the internet.”

That sounds dangerously close to an official breakup confirmation, don't you think? Plus, we noticed that neither Ryan or Chris flat-out denied a break-up, either. At least their tone seemed a bit more hopeful, though. Call us idealistic, but we're still holding out on a shred of hope that Kurt and Blaine may make it just yet!
