Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) and Rachel Berry (Lea Michele). After multiple years of drama and relationship angst, things actually seemed to be going quite smoothly for these two in Glee Season 3.

The high school sweethearts seemed like the perfect happy couple. He even proposed, and they quickly began planning a new life in New York City together. Then Rachel got into NYADA, and Finn didn’t get into The Actor’s Studio at Pace.

Rachel quickly decided to defer her acceptance and stick around Lima for another year to be with Finn — but Finn knew he couldn’t possibly let that happen.

Even if he followed her to New York and tried to find another path to follow, Finn knew he would always wonder if he was somehow holding his fiance back. So Finn made the decision to break up with Rachel and “set her free” to become the star he knew she was destined to be. No more holding her back.

Finn is off to join the army, the one place he knows his ex-fiance can’t follow him. But is this really the end of their relationship?

Finn admits he still wants to marry Rachel more than anything, he’s simply convinced that truly loving her means not allowing himself to hold her back. Ultimately, he tells her, “Let the universe do its thing, and if we’re meant to be together, we’re meant to be together.”

So what do you think is in store for Finn and Rachel? Are they fated to end up together eventually, even if it does take a few years — or do you think she’ll meet someone new in NYC and move on from him for good?
