Please grab a brown paper bag and proceed to dry-heave into it. Word on the street is that Fox hasn't renewed Glee for a fifth season because creator Ryan Murphy, writer Ian Brennan and producer Brad Falchuk might not return to the series.
We'll give you a moment to process....
Glee is currently in talks for Season 5, but it looks like the Three Musketeers are ready to step away from the open arms (and wiggling jazz hands) of New Directions. Ryan Murphy already has an army of shows to juggle (including American Horror Story and The New Normal), and he recently sold a brand new pilot to HBO. Frankly, dude might not have time to steer Glee's ship!
Of course, we can't forget that Ryan recently spoke about his plans for next season. "I think what we're going to do, and I have to wait until that moment to announce, but what we're going to do with the show is very different," he told The Hollywood Reporter back in February. "I really like this season, and I liked going back and forth, but I would really like at one point for a huge chunk of them to stay in one location, which we'll probably do next year."
Why would Ryan chat about Glee's fifth season if he didn't plan to stay on board? Either way, Fox won't necessarily cancel Glee if Ryan, Ian and Brad leave, so we can live in hope.
Do you think Ryan and his home boys will abandon Glee for bigger and better things, or is the rumor mill simply running in overdrive due to the fact that the show hasn't been renewed?
