Marley (Melissa Benoist) is going through particularly hard time on Glee right now, and from the looks of things, it appears that things are only going to get worse.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actress Melissa says that Marley is “not finished battling her inner demons” and that her struggle with eating disorders is only going to intensify in coming episodes.
Posing as Marley’s friend, Kitty (Becca Tobin) has been able to convince her to do some pretty crazy things, including starving herself on crash diets and forcing herself to throw up on a daily basis. And all these destructive behaviors won’t have gone away by the time Glee Season 4, Episode 8: “Thanksgiving” airs November 29, 2012.
“It's not something that was just a thing she was trying out. Kitty really got into her head and she's definitely going to keep battling a lot,” Melissa says.
What’s more, Kitty’s mind games could even affect the New Directions’ chances of beating the Warblers at Sectionals. “[It’s] a really dramatic episode,” she says. “How far Kitty has penetrated Marley's mind really affects everyone. It's such a negative thing and Marley is so affected by it that everyone can see and sense it and it's such an epic pinnacle.”
An epic pinnacle, huh? We’ve been keeping up on Glee spoilers, and we think we just might have a clue what this epic pinnacle could be.
Sectionals will be Marley’s first time ever performing in front of a large crowd, so the pressure will be on. And Marley isn’t in a good place mentally right now, either. She feels insecure about herself. She feels insecure about the way she looks.
“At this point I think it's going to take something very drastic to happen for her to realize — and it's going to be no one but herself — that something is terribly wrong and she needs help.”
This is all starting to sound very ominous.
