Glee Stars Speak Out Against Prop 8: Who Joined the Cast of New Political Play?
Glee's Chris Colfer (Kurt) has officially joined the cast of a hotly-anticipated one-night only reading of Dustin Lance Black new play, 8!
8 – penned by Black, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Milk – examines the trial resulting from the historic challenge of California's Proposition 8 by the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER). According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chris will take on the role of Ryan Kendall, who testified in the trial "about his experience being sent by his parents to so-called 'reparative therapy' as a teenager."
Chris joins the ranks of an already super impressive talent roster that includes heavy-hitters like George Clooney, Kevin Bacon, John C. Reilly and Martin Sheen – as well as a couple of very familiar faces, Matthew Morrison (Will) and Jane Lynch (Sue).
The staging takes place on March 3 at Los Angeles' Wilshire Ebell Theatre and marks the play's west coast debut after a September reading on Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre that raised $1 million for AFER.
